Ralph Lauren and Female Sexuality: Not a Mix

The Ralph Lauren ad controversy is gaining momentum. I don’t want to leave it mired only in a discussion of weight and body image. I write about the sexlessness of the new ad image on a psychological level.
In an older Ralph Lauren photo of Hamilton, she is clearly more sensually robust, even if she remains model-thin.
Reminder to corporate clients. Don’t use scare tactics on websites like Boing Boing, unless you actually want to create controversy around an ad. Ralph Lauren just had a ‘buy’ recommendation in Wall Street, which could be one reason why they moved to squelch conversation about the ad.
That was a bad move, unless they really want the publicity — which they might. Anne
