Ralph Lauren Clamps Down Hard on Boing Boing
America’s “great American brand” Ralph Lauren decided to end any public discussion around this ad, casually mentioned on Boing Boing. Well now, they have a big brouhaha brewing, and we support it 110%.
Earlier this morning, I wrote a middle of the road post about this entire subject of models and body image, but the heavy handed tactics of the Ralph Lauren folks to end any discussion around this ad photo are not what I consider a first-amendment right.
In the growing concern that corporations totally control America, seeing Ralph Lauren stomp out any public discussion is a good reason not to buy his brand. In this economy, I’m surprised that he wants to take the risk, even though many brands believe there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Anne
